The great debate

Dress: Ophella
Necklace: Smooch the Label
Shoes: Sophia Webster | Bag: Quintessential | Umbrella; Japan | Ring: Zouk Flea Market | Phone cover: TVC Mall
The weekend went by in a flurry of pink and white, as I'm sure you're well aware unless you've been living under a rock, in which case, hi, I am super flattered you would choose to read my blog upon return to civilisation. Please google 'Pink Dot 2014'.

I wore pink on Friday and Saturday but not Sunday because I was busy eating crisps in my pajamas the whole day (don't judge me). I continue my pink parade today with bits of awesome pink accessories both because I support freedom to love and also because I have been dying to wear these shoes for ages.

I don't want to delve too much into the whole debate since so much has already been said but with everything else there is going on in the world, does it really matter if someone else loves pink?

Thanks for reading, hope you're feeling in the pink of health!

Thinking outside the box

Top: River Island | Skirt: Bloomingdale's
Bag: Betsey Johnson
Watch: New Look | Rings: Lovisa | Shoes: Keds
TGIF AMMIRITE??? I took the dress down Friday opportunity to showcase my awesome boxy dice bag and shoe print skirt. I think these cute pieces were the pick me up I've needed because, as the lowest on the food chain, as my boss often tells me, I've been tasked with working on a presentation deck that has my brain all jumbled.

The words floating about my little pea brain at the moment are:
Integration, commercialisation, platform, ghiugftiweosf, gfweiaushbxdbgvyust, iosadfhyciudsg....

Oh sorry. I think my brain broke there for a second.

Anyway, the work day is over so I will hopefully resume some coherent word processing on Monday.

Till then, thanks for reading, have a super awesome weekend and dahiufsahgedgghbfgsdiuohsdgvn jggghkjhafgn!^%$#!!

The fashion faux pas

Dress: Smooch the Label | Shoes: Tangs Studio
Bag: Mango
Ring: Swarovski (gift from Cyn) | Earrings: Diva
I read somewhere that too matchymatchy isn't fashionable but how does one know when much becomes too much?

I nearly wore dark blue shoes with this dress but the fear of being too matchymatchy made me chicken out and switch to the safety of nude shoes. I've often found it tough to know where to draw the line - When I was younger, I had a head full of thick hair dyed almost entirely bright pink, and I decided that it would be a good idea to pair that hair with a pink top, pink converse sneakers, and a pink bag. Let's all have a good laugh at my fashion faux pas but also take into consideration how I would have been a hit in some circles in Japan.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that while better sense sometimes prevails, I also think that it might be fun sometimes to throw caution to the wind and just be a devotee to specific (or all) of the colours on the pantone colour wheel. Oh well, perhaps another day!

Thanks for reading, stay tuned for colourful adventures of the rainbow renegade!

The shoppers guide to the galaxy

Crop top + skirt: ASOS
Earrings: Diva
Bag: FCUK | Shoes: Vincci
Watch: Swatch | Ring: Gift from Cyn
Be kind to animals
As a busy worker bee, I don't have much time to shop so I've turned to online shopping in a big way, much to the dismay of my bank account. While there are downsides to online shopping (makes you look like a cow, feels like sandpaper, etc), there can also be pleasant surprises too. Like this outfit, When I bought it on ASOS, I thought it was a dress but it turned out to be a crop top and midi-skirt connected by large round buttons to make it a dress. I am clearly not very observant because I didn't realise this upon purchase but I'm happy because it feels like two for the price of one!

So as a self-proclaimed online shopping expert, here are my online shopping tips which you probably already know since you weren't born in a cave of no logic:
  1. Read the descriptions.
  2. Ogle at the picture and consider how great the model looks then minus about 30%-50% of the greatness to imagine how it might look on a mere mortal if you're a short and not stick-thin human like me.
  3. Watch them strut the runway if video is provided because then you can pick up tips on how to look cool while walking in said desired clothes.
  4. Buy the size that you actually are, not what you want to be. Unless you're a superhuman who can lose weight by just breathing (in which case, please tell me your secrets oh great one!)
  5.  Look at the price. Cry. Look at the price again. Cave in and whip out your credit card.
Thanks for reading my young Padawans, you are most welcome, happy shopping!

Meee-ow

Dress: GG<5 | Belt: Prada
Do you swing, baby?
Bag: TK Mexx | Shoes: Tangs

Ring: Chinatown | Watch: New Look
Earrings: Chinatown
Missed my Monday post because I was sick and didn't go to work but I am back with a vengeance and today I unleash my inner beast in animal prints! There's a lot to love about this dress including the shimmery jacquard fabric, the colour, the way the cut makes my broad shoulders look defined but not too manly and the puffy structure of the skirt. But the best thing? It has secret pockets!! So great for discreetly storing things like tissue for when I perspire (all the time), my work pass, and nuts (for midday snacking of course).

Thanks for reading, secret pocket snacks for all!

Dress: Far East Plaza | Shoes: Marks & Spencers

Fist bump bro! Ring: A gift from Mousie. Very love it, it's a poodle!
I had to jet off to KL again this week to attend a meeting and a workshop so instead of posting each night, I decided to combine it all as one big post. This is because I am computer illiterate and did not know how to connect my laptop to the hotel's internet. I am a disgrace to the Gen Y's.

Anyway, I had a couple of challenges packing for KL because I only wanted to carry a cabin sized luggage but I also wanted to fayshun it up. The following are my key tips for packing for business trips:
  • Pack low-heeled shoes/wedges for brisk walking because it is imperative to be able to outpace your fellow business travellers especially when it comes to the immigration queues. The faster you get in line, the faster you get to get into a cab for another long journey to the city centre, champion.
  • Wear a silicon watch for important time-checking. You are an important business person and your time is money so check frequently to see how much money is going to waste every time the people ahead of you dawdle. Sighing loudly is a general rule. A non-metal watch helps to prevent the metal scanning machine to loudly beep and waste precious seconds as someone pats you down.
  • Always pack clothes that don't need to be ironed. Or better, pack clothes that have that purposely crumpled look. Like a purposeful hipster hobo.
  • Bring a capelet and/or a shawl because it gets cold in airports and both are great for putting over your head to protect you from UV rays and weird stares as you fall asleep in the plane/car/meeting room.
Thanks for reading, don't you dawdle now!

Grin and bare it

Top: Ezra | Skirt: ASOS
Gripping on for dear life because I kept slipping through the holes in the steps
Bag: Y-3 | Shoes: China online store
The necklace is a gift
The ring is a gift from Aunty Cyn and is both creepy and awesome
Around the time when I was in secondary one or two, pop stars such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore became all the rage, singing catchy tunes while dancing about in midriff-baring outfits comprised of crop tops and super low rise boot cut jeans. At such an impressionable age, I became obsessed with the midriff-baring look which meant I had to become less obsessed with fried chicken nuggets and Mountain Dew, and much more obsessed with sit-ups.The late nineties was a stressful time for me.

As with all good trends, they come around and so the crop top is back with a vengeance. Thankfully for me, it is now way less revealing as they're usually paired with high-waisted pants, skirts or shorts so this really limits the amount of (fl)abs exposure. I like this version of the trend much more and so does my mother who might have been appalled to see me sweating all over her parquet floor in the hopes of shrinking my food baby.

Thanks for reading, hit me (food) baby one more time.

G(u)ilt

Like a tourist posing in front of shiny metal balls
Silk shirt: Uniqlo | Skirt: ASOS
Earrings: Chinatown | Necklace: ASOS | Ring: Some shop in Boston
Shoes: Charles & Keith (Snakeskin print! Squeaaaal!)
Bag: Prada (In the course of taking the last photo, I misplaced my ring. D'oh!)
The common refrain by my colleagues today was 'you look so bling bling', which I will take as a compliment for my gilt laden look. I love me some shiny so I couldn't resist getting this embossed snakeskin print leather skirt (plus I adore snakeskin print because I am a Real Housewife of River Valley - make it a deep V plunge caftan and I will probably squeal). Of course, guilt set in shortly after (oh I love me some puns!) since I realised I might not be able to wear it all that often because:
  1. It must be dry-cleaned, a process which is expensive and it's hard to find a good cleaner that does leather
  2. It is leather so it can be hot and this leads to S.L.S. (Sticky Legs Syndrome)
  3. It is shiny and thus might not be very suitable for many occasions
However, I can confirm that it is super suitable for a Monday because what better way to start off the week than to make people unwittingly stare at your butt/crotch/thighs! Sometimes you just need a little thrill.

Thanks for reading and for staring at my butt/crotch/thighs! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Things to love on fashiony Fridays:
  1. Black, white and red colour combinations - I love this all the time actually
  2. Loud as hell clashing patterns because lookatmelookatme!
  3. Stripes are just timeless
  4. Chilling out in front of random ohbiang (gaudy) wallpaper
  5. The impending start of a super weekend
Thanks for reading, have a super weekend and check out the Cheating Sons gig at Esplanade this evening and Saturday if you have some time!

Work trip itinerary

Lean on walls like a cool person. Pants: Uniqlo
People watch. Shirt: Far East Plaza | Blazer: Armani Exchange
Drink kopi
Drink more kopi. Rings: Gift from Cyn

Stand around. Bad shot but deal wit' it. Shoes: Pedder Red
I hardly ever wear pants because I get hot easily and am a sweaty human being but this whole getup is my go-to outfit for business trips because it's super comfy and professional. Plus it makes me feel like a cool person to be wearing a slightly androgynous all black outfit.

On a previous trip to KL, I wore this outfit and was doing that whole cool swagger down the aisle of the plane as if I was Singapore's Next Top Model and I was certain all the seated passengers were staring in awe. Then another passenger gestured over to me and I thought, 'must be an autograph seeker'. Actually, I thought maybe he thought I was an air stewardess because clearly logical thought doesn't enter my brain. Anyway, he then proceeded to tell me that one of my buttons at my chest had come unbuttoned. Free peep show!

Instead of saying something cool, or even thanking him, I cursed a particularly uncouth Hokkien swear word and rushed to my seat in shame as my face started glowing bright red. VERY COOL.

Status report for today's trip: Meetings went well, no unexpected boob appearances.

Thanks for reading, business can resume as per normal.

Priorities

Dress: Bysi | Bag: Tory Burch | Shoes: Beverly Feldman
My bag's a bit squashy because I treat my bags like trash and chuck them under my bed. Oops.
I am so bad at styling my hair that even a messy bun takes forever and makes my arms tired.
I hope you're thinking that I look super professional today. I spent quite some time agonising over what to wear because I had a meeting with the big boss scheduled today and I felt that a more sombre and corporate look might be best. This is difficult because most of my work clothes look like Rainbow Brite got hungover and threw up in my closet. So now you know that work > personal kukuballsness. I know how to prioritise ok?

I guess I always try to wear chunky rings to keep things interesting for myself hence you would have seen lots of those by now if you've been reading (yeah that's right, I'm looking at all five of you dear readers).

Anyway, thanks for reading! Hope you had a colourful kukuballs day!
